Osteopathy

Osteopathy works with the hands. I look for the place in the body where movement is no longer free – and that is not always where it hurts. What I do next depends on what I find under my hands.

How an osteopathy session works

A detailed case history first: when, where, how, since when. Then your occupation, your sport, your hobbies – much of what burdens the body comes from everyday life.

Next comes a whole-body examination, standing and lying down, with movement tests where needed. I look for the places where a function is disturbed. Such dysfunctions can be parietal (musculoskeletal), visceral (internal organs) or craniosacral (skull, spine, sacrum). The techniques follow from the findings, not the other way round.

A session lasts 45 to 90 minutes, usually an hour.

How I decide what to work with

The complaint sets the direction. With digestive problems I examine the intestine specifically – but I also check the other possible causes, such as strong neck tension or blockages of the thoracic spine.

Sometimes there is one main problem, sometimes several at once. I work through them in the order that makes sense to me, with tests in between: I look at which techniques your body responds to best. Physiotherapy techniques or a word about nutrition often help alongside.

When the organ disturbs the back

Problems of the internal organs can contribute to orthopaedic symptoms. Pain and blockages of the thoracic spine are sometimes connected with the liver and gallbladder, sometimes with the stomach.

In such a case there are several points of attack: visceral techniques on the organ, parietal ones on the vertebral blockage, and physiotherapeutic ones on the muscular balance.

Why people come

  • diffuse pain syndromes throughout the musculoskeletal system, on movement or at rest
  • abdominal and digestive complaints
  • headaches
  • jaw problems
  • tinnitus
  • visual disturbances
  • dizziness
  • sleep problems

One point matters to me: new or unexplained symptoms should be examined by a doctor first. That applies particularly to dizziness, visual disturbances and tinnitus, behind which something else may lie.

When osteopathy is not an option

This emerges from the case history and the examination. With medical emergencies, osteoporosis, acute infections and inflammations, tumour diseases and fresh injuries I do not treat, or only in a strongly adapted way. What is possible in your case I discuss with you and, where necessary, with your doctor.

Appointments and fees

A session costs between 80 and 120 euros depending on its length and what is required. I tell you the amount before the first session. Home visits are possible in Dillingen and the immediate surroundings.

The conditions mentioned here are examples of application. They are in no way a promise of cure, and treatment is not advisable in every case.
