Bobath therapy

Bobath therapy – treatment on a neurophysiological basis according to Bobath – is a complex technique for neurological conditions of the peripheral and the central nervous system. Stimuli are applied to the disturbed functions, with the aim of restoring, improving and maintaining them.

Why patients come to me

Often it is a stroke, multiple sclerosis, peripheral and central nerve damage, or congenital and acquired neurological conditions.

The difficulties concern balance, motor control, sensation, perception – often several at once, and differently in every person.

How treatment works

As always, the approach follows the clinical picture and the findings. I work with sensory and motor nerve stimulation, including reflex pathways, for example through balance reactions.

Added to this are transfers – such as moving from lying to sitting or into the wheelchair –, the facilitation of movement and manual support wherever it is needed.

Practice is not limited to the couch

On the treatment couch, sitting, standing, on the stairs and on the trampoline. Gait training as well.

Movements should arrive where they are needed: in standing up, in walking, in climbing stairs.

Relatives and carers

I involve relatives and nursing staff and show them what to do. Whoever moves, positions and accompanies a person every day shapes the course more strongly than the one hour in the practice.

Often over years

Neurological conditions need time. Often these are long-term treatments, once or twice a week, in some cases over years. I have looked after individual patients for more than ten years.

Home visits in Dillingen

If the journey to the practice is not possible, I come to your home in Dillingen and the immediate surroundings – this applies to all the treatments I offer. A home-visit surcharge and travel costs are added; I tell you the amount beforehand.
