Health tips
Most of what you do for your health does not happen in my practice, but at home. The suggestions below cost nothing, need no equipment and no appointment – they need only regularity.
Pick out what suits you. Two things you actually do have more effect than eighteen you intend to do.
Movement
Walks
Go for regular walks in nature. It supports the balance of body and mind, is a good counterweight for the musculoskeletal system and gentle cardiovascular training.
Exercises
Do exercises that do you good, ideally every day. They can improve the function of the musculoskeletal system and of the whole body.
Dancing
Take to the floor a little more often. Good cardiovascular training, it enlivens and lifts the mood.
Hot and cold leg douche
Shower both legs first with hot water, then with cold. It gives warm feet, promotes circulation and stimulates the reflex zones.
Eating and drinking
Raw food
Eat raw, unprocessed food regularly – vegetables, fruit, seeds, nuts – preferably from certified organic farming. It benefits digestion and the nourishment of the cells.
Natural salt
Cook with natural, unrefined salt: crystal salt, rock salt or sea salt. It works on the electrolyte balance.
Good water
Drink enough, spread across the day. Fresh spring water is best, but make sure the spring is tested and approved as drinking water – untested water from the countryside can be contaminated.
Quiet and mind
Relaxation
Get to know different relaxation techniques so as to find one that suits you. It reduces stress and makes you calmer.
Meditation
Look into meditative techniques. They can lead to a clear mind and deep relaxation.
Mental exercise
Train your grey cells regularly, for instance with chess, crosswords, foreign languages or learning a musical instrument. It can improve concentration, memory and cognitive ability.
Singing
Sing songs you like on a regular basis – in the car or in the shower, it makes no difference. It can deepen the breathing and enliven the whole body; the vibration works like a massage from within.
Laughing
Laughter, as everyone knows, is the best medicine. When did you last have a really good laugh?
Kindness to yourself
Be good to yourself. Fulfil your dreams and wishes, and allow yourself breaks.
Everyday life and surroundings
Order
Try to bring as much order and structure as possible into your life and your surroundings. It supports both physical and mental balance.
Social hygiene
Surround yourself with people who mean well by you and in whose company you feel at ease.
Humidity indoors
During the heating season, make sure there is enough moisture in the air. This prevents the mucous membranes of the nose and throat from drying out, a frequent cause of colds and infections.
Dental care
Clean between your teeth regularly with dental floss and rinse afterwards with an antibacterial mouthwash.
A basic attitude
Prevention
Prevention is the best medicine. Prevent illness through a healthier way of living, instead of waiting until the body forces you to act.
Taking responsibility
Take responsibility for your body and your health. Inform yourself broadly about conventional and alternative treatment options, ask questions and take part in the decisions – doctors and therapists are your partners, not your guardians.
